Volleyball

In true Erin form, we are experiencing a new sport this season. The girl has the craziest ideas and this one started this summer when (OUT OF THE BLUE) she said she thought she'd go out for the volleyball team. I could never fault her for her varied interests and her confidence. The girl has more energy than time.

The team practices many days after school and the trips have been long...as far as 4 hours away. The team doesn't win...but hopefully is learning how to play together. Erin is having fun and that's really all that matters this time. I can't help but wonder, what will be next?

Soccer season

There are many reasons I like soccer but the biggest reason is to be able to sit out in the fall weather and watch my kids play. This Saturday I watched Lauren play in Little Rock at the beautiful Burns Park. That place is amazing and the leaves were just blowing all over as we played in the cool morning and the mild afternoon.

SIDE NOTE: It's so much better than sticking to your lawn chair during softball/baseball season...which we did for years. I'll never forget watching a game from UNDER the bleachers in Orlando one year. It was so hot AND humid that all the parents and families were in the shade of the bleachers watching our kids through the slats. And there was the year that we played in the dust bowl of Oklahoma City where not only was it hot (with not a tree or grass in the park), but the dirt that was blowing around just stuck to your sweat. We cheered, we wore mathing t-shirts, we wouldn't trade the experience, but I won't forget the heat.

Birthday Wishes

When I was a little girl I had a pencil with a bunch of little colored pieces you could interchange in the top. I made lots of pictures that looked similar to this one Sheridan made for me. I'm so thankful she likes to color and write and that she loves me THAT MUCH!

Family Fun

I put in a lot of hours in between our sale in Russellville and my first sale in Broken Arrow. It wasn't a hard decision for me to send Richard and the big kids to the Razorback football game in Fayetteville while I stayed home and took Sheridan to a birthday party. I was able to accomplish much with the living room floor, chairs, and couches to myself. I'm tickled that Erin took my camera and captured the fun they had. Seriously, chick fil a ice cream and the Razorbacks...love it.

First Game Shots

For Ryan's 11th or 12th birthday we painted ARKANSAS end zones in our front yard. He invited his friends over and they played football in unseasonably comfortable January weather. My son has ALWAYS wanted to play football.

SO...you can imagine the excitement when the first game of his junior year was in Razorback stadium! There aren't many highlights of the game but the entire experience was awesome for our families, our team and our community.

His goal was to score the first touchdown in Razorback stadium for the year. (the razorbacks didn't play their home opener until two days later) He actually scored the first touchdown for us in Razorback stadium. Our team was out-played by a strong Charleston team and so the scoreboard wasn't in our favor any of the game.

For Lauren and the Panther Band...Halftime is Game Time!

Quote of the Day

It's busy ball season and Tuesday night, while Erin was in Atkins playing volleyball...and after Lauren's soccer practice in Russellville...after the Ryan's football scrimmage/jamboree in Dardanelle, we stopped for a bite to eat on the way home.

Sheridan gets pretty much the same thing each time we stop at America's Favorite Drive in, but she was feeling a little crazy to be at Sonic, ordering dinner after 8:30 and her bedtime. That's when she said..."I'll take a vanilla coke and some of those little chicken balls."

Seems silly to repeat it now...but it cracked us all up. She meant popcorn chicken, but just couldn't find the words. We must've all been a little crazy, because we laughed about it until our order was delivered.

More Broken Arrow

Can't say enough about sweet friends who come across state lines and help me in the store for three days! Jane, you're a dear and I'm so thankful for you. Jane is one of the first friends I made in Clarksville. Fifteen years ago she worked at the post office and invited me to church...the rest is history.

I've talked to hundreds of moms in the last 5 days. The response has been so good as we are the new guys in a busy consignment area. Moms have spread the word that we are friendly, organized and had good clothing and toys in the store.

Not nearly enough people in Broken Arrow got the word about our event this time, but I have 7 pages of email addresses to add to our mailing list! Woo hoo! One more day left to sell clothes and sell the idea of our sale. I'm thankful for two of our leaders who are helping tomorrow sorting the unsold items and keeping me company in the store.

God has provided in a million ways this week...counting my blessings.

A little bit of everything...

Posted by Picasa
I do so envy the part of Erin that will try ANYTHING without any fear. This summer she was insistent that she wanted to play Junior High volleyball. Where this sudden longing came from, we do not know. We just arranged to get her to and from practices.

She loves it. I've yet to see her compete but this week we will make one of the games. I'll cheer on my girl who will try a little bit of everything and have FUN doing it all!

GAME DAY

Today is the first day of Panther Football season. Just a note, I'm totally choked up when I think about Ryan getting to play football. It's all he wanted to do when he was a little boy and I think every birthday party had a football theme.

Tonight he gets the exciting chance to play in RAZORBACK STADIUM! Our school was picked to play in a PreSeason match with our first opponent in Fayetteville. Needless to say, but we've been counting down the days. His goal is to score the first touchdown in Razorback stadium. That's not a huge stretch...he could do it.

Praying for peace and health. Safety for all those traveling to the game.

From Facing the Giants: We will praise God if we win, and we will praise God if we lose.

Let the season begin

Technically, the season began about 2 months ago when I started pricing things for people and the clothes and toys took over our garage, living room and bedroom. However, after dropping the kids off at school on Thursday morning...it was off to the races for me.

Move in was Friday morning for our 5th event in Russellville. The numbers had been climbing during the last 48 hours to enter items...and even though my homemade check off chart stopped at 30,000 items...consignors entered 33, 785 items into our sale! OH MY! Where were we going top put it all? It did fit, but it was tight.

Our sale was a success, consignors were happy with their checks, shoppers were happy with their purchases..I made new friends. I thank God for the chance to give things away to ministries who can use them for the people who need things. I give all the credit to Him for bringing consignors and shoppers to our event...and the wonderful volunteers who help me pull it all off smoothly.

God is good...all the time.

2 weeks until Broken Arrow.
