I'm really enjoying this summer. Can't tell you why it's different than others, but it's good most all of the time. One factor is that at the beginning of the month I showed my kids the extensive list of all the little jobs that needed to be done around the house...I called it the bored list...and anytime they are bored, they can get something to do off the list! I haven't heard much about that!
If you read this blog with any regularity (thank you Mom and Dad) you know our garden has been the source of many satisfying moments this summer. Although the okra is typically the last veggie out of our garden, the tomatoes are still green and not ready! Okra is a family favorite and as the girls have been taught to chop veggies this summer they made a surprising discovery at lunchtime yesterday!
Can you see the little hearts?! (you can click on the picture to make it larger)
We were more than a little giddy to see the sign for love in our okra. Honestly, if you get the camera out while cutting veggies it is a stellar summer day!
Also in the kitchen:
Erin made my famous chocolate chip cookies, by herself!
The cookies were gone before I could take a picture of them, but as you know, getting them out of the oven at the right time is the key! She did great!
This pic is from the 4th of July! Sheridan and Lauren decorated this fruit pizza! Yumm! I'm not ever going to write a recipe book or have a grand dinner party, but I can make quick and tasty...and I hope my girls will never stress in the kitchen!
