Christmas Fun

Happy for Erin to spend Sunday afternoon with her Sunday School class. They made their own tacky Christmas shirts and then led music at Sunday Night Live. Oh my.

Erin's Fun Feast

Madrigal feast is a big deal at CHS. This year was Erin's year as a participant in the play part and also as a singer. She had a beautiful dress to borrow and a few funny lines to entertain the dining crowd. Ryan came home because he didn't want to miss it as as an alumni of the court last year. It's a fun experience and a great production the choir kids can be proud of. I'm glad it's part of our holiday tradition.

WEEKEND in NARNIA

Couldn't be prouder and more thankful for Erin's opportunity to be Lucy in the play this weekend. I had NO idea that she had memorized SO MANY lines! On Thursday, the Rogers came in full force to support her. On Friday, Ryan and Seth came down from the UofA and watched the play. On Saturday, the Boogaarts were able to come over from MH. SO thankful Mom could get away from work to be able to see Erin. It was a fun weekend full of family, plays and sunshine. "A great adventure indeed..."

CHS goes to Narnia

ABSOLUTELY love this picture! Erin is Lucy in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe production this weekend at CHS. Erin's life motto is, "Let's try it!" And she won this part during her first semester in drama. Of course, those of us who know her aren't surprised...Erin = Drama. In a good way, of course! I can't wait to see the production!

Favorite team day: Sheridan was so excited to dress like Lydia. I told her she needed to stand up when she was by her buddy. She knows that Lydia is taller, but she didn't know just how much until her teacher sent me this picture.

Swim Season!

June was full with vacation, summer camp and VBS but now Erin is back in the pool and competed in her first meet on Saturday. We were excited to see her swim but not very excited about the 100 degree weather. God provided a great breeze and a friend loaned us a canopy to block the sun. Erin won four heat ribbons and 2 first place finishes! It was a good day.

Tie Dyed Freshman Girls

Erin is blessed to have a lot of friends. She has friends in every class of school, from church, sports, older and younger friends. She has that "thing" that endears her to everyone and although there's seldom a ONE AND ONLY best friend, she has the influence to impact a lot of people. Last week when Richard and I were out of town I got a text from her asking if some of her friends could come over and tie dye t-shirts for Battle of the Classes day. I answered and reminded her I was out of town and she could have friends over, but I wouldn't be at home until later in the evening or maybe they could all come over next day.

By the time she got my message and answered back she had 8 girls invited over right after school! Deep breath and it was NO problem, I only had ONE rule, "Keep the color outside." When I got home at about 4:30, there were girls everywhere, with these cute shirts all over the front yard! They had pulled up instructions on the internet and someone (I still don't know who) got all the supplies and they were finished and happy!

Good news: the Freshman won Battle of the Classes and the day was a success. It's these things that make memories that she'll remember forever. I could've messed it up when she didn't get my message. I'm so thankful I didn't freak out.

Spring Sports

It's been a really fun semester watching Ryan play baseball, Lauren and Erin play soccer together and Sheridan play soccer on the weekends. These last months have flown by with games and tournaments all running together. Neither the baseball team or the soccer team made it past the first round in the state tournament and Sheridan's team didn't win a game all season, but it didn't devastate us at all because everyone enjoyed their teams and their accomplishments. I like it that way, and I'm sure glad we're done driving to Mena!

SURPRISE!

ONE OF THE BEST moments of Spring Break was when Richard surprised Erin for her 15th birthday! She was NOT expecting him to be at our lunch spot and to bring roses was a special touch. Of course, every one of the 60 people from our group received a FUN DIP in honor of Erin's birthday. I may be the usual birthday party hostess but Richard knows how to throw a party on the road!

As a point of interest, Erin has spent 7 of her 15 birthdays at Mission Arlington. Very cool.

Mission Arlington

Last year Sheridan, Richard and I missed the Spring Break trip to Arlington because my Broken Arrow event was the following week, and Richard had missed too much work training for his new job. It was hard not being with our kids and serving in a place we love to serve.

This year Sheridan and I headed off with the girls. Ryan went with the high school choir on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to NYC and Richard had work on both weekends around the week. He surprised Erin on Wednesday for her birthday in Arlington. Had an interview in Irving on Thursday morning, and then hung out with us until Friday when Sheridan and I rode home with him. It was a great week. I loved the mix of college kids and jr high and high school students. We also stayed at a new location which was a fresh look for us all. One of Sheridan's friends came with her mom too and it was especially fun for the two 8 year olds to hang out with all the older kids and help in the apartment complexes with the families we were serving as well.

Soccer season

We're watching Lauren and Erin play CHS soccer this year! It's fun to cheer for them both as Erin earned a spot on the varsity team! I made this shirt for Sheridan...it's not straight, and it's not perfect, but it's great for us!
