Summer camps

I'm so thankful that my kids are getting to go to summer camps. When I was growing up going to summer camp was my favorite thing to do! I started at GA Camp in 2nd grade (Mother/Daughter camp) and my last summer was being a counselor my sophomore year of college. I have the greatest memories of quiet time booklets, bunk beds, making new friends, and my favorite: camp songs!

Richard, Ryan and Lauren went to camp in OK last week. I alternated feelings of enjoying the quietness to feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't go. I certainly don't want to relive my childhood (!) but I do long to relive my favorite moments, and that includes summer camp! Sometimes I really struggle to live in the present. If I'm not reliving the past, I am "what iffing" the future! I know that's not the best God has for me!

OK, enough introspection on the world wide web!

Erin, Sheridan and I stayed busy!
On Monday we helped our friend Mandy at her new job in the High School Library. She has enough to do there to work everyday until school starts! It was good to help out!
AND, we got to play with TY!
On Tuesday I worked on clothes for our sale. Mom and Dad brought racks so I set up our bedroom into a small storage area for the about 400 items I already have from consignors. Sheridan helps with the small details, Erin spent the day cleaning her room for friends...

On Wednesday I took the girls to the American Girl - Kitt Kittridge movie! It was SO good. It was a special event for us because we NEVER go to the movie theater. We wait and rent! The big screen was great, and the popcorn smell is HEAVENLY!

On Wednesday night we had 4 of E's friends over. There is a new girl who has moved back to Clarksville and her dad is deployed in Iraq. I knew her parents when they lived here about 7 years ago so I invited E's buddies and the 'new girl' over to swim and spend the night. They had a big time and I know it will make their new friend's transition easier.

On Thursday Erin went to a slumber birthday party. OH MY- just Sheridan and I were home! Sheridan hasn't been very brave in the pool this year, but on this day, she started swimming like a fish. She can now swim all the way across the pool. I'll have pics later, when she showed her daddy!

Friday was an easy day, both Sheridan and Erin took naps, under protest, but also didn't want to get up! We had a swim meet in the evening so Erin needed to catch up from her two slumber parties! Sheridan was also a little behind on sleep, so we needed to catch up for Daddy's return.

The campers got back from a WONDERFUL week around 5:00. I love it that Ryan and Lauren jumped out of the car and ran straight for Sheridan. It's a good bond between siblings that are 10 years apart.

Tomorrow is Monday:
Ryan is off to football camp for two days in the 100 degree heat! He leaves at 6:30am and Richard is going too.
Erin is off to her children's camp at 10:00am
Sheridan, Lauren and I plan to go back to the High School library to help some more!

It's so hot outside, most of our activities will be inside this week. Our pool feels like a hot tub!
