Bugs...

I am so thankful Friday was the last day for THE Bug Collection to be at our house. Erin has been working on this for a month at least! I would NEVER fault her for being so excited about school work, but seriously, there have been dead bugs in zip locks around our house for a month! She painted her pizza box in September when the assignment was given. Gotta love a girl who likes school and teachers that make it fun.

Must be 6th grade, because that was when I did my bug collection, except I thought she was 7th, so I'm not sure.

Did you ever hear the story about Grandpa bringing me the tarantula home? We weren't even supposed to have spiders. Well, G&G had gone to Monett, and they had picked up some dazed or dead butterflies in Grandma's empty cracker box on the way home, and then Grandpa picked up a tarantula that was walking across the highway in a square see-through Tupperware box. They came by the house and he gave it to me, had me open it (thank God I just cracked the corner!) and the thing jumped toward the top of the lid (I did not know what it was before I opened it). Ultimately, we put the well-sealed Tupperware in our deep freeze in the garage and waited a few weeks until it was nice and frozen before it was disposed of. I can't even tell you who got rid of it, other than it wasn't me.

I would be so glad it was out of my house, but back then it didn't bother me.
