It's unseasonably warm here and Sheridan and I have been playing outside a little bit each day after school. Today she said she wished I had a bike. I haven't had a bike for 30 years, however I jumped on Ryan's and began to pedal down the driveway. Sheridan says,

" MOM! I didn't know you knew how to ride a bike!"

I spent the rest of the time "racing" (I use this term loosely) her to the neighbors and I was "cool" (I use this term loosely) for about 10 minutes.

A day after former Broncos QB Jake Plummer said in a radio interview that he wished the man currently taking the snaps in Denver, Tim Tebow, would curb his references to Jesus Christ and his faith, Tebow responded.


Asked about Plummer's remarks in an interview on ESPN's First Take, Tebow said:

"If you're married, and you have a wife, and you really love your wife, is it good enough to only say to your wife 'I love her' the day you get married? Or should you tell her every single day when you wake up and every opportunity?


"And that's how I feel about my relationship with Jesus Christ is that it is the most important thing in my life. So any time I get an opportunity to tell him that I love him or given an opportunity to shout him out on national TV, I'm gonna take that opportunity. And so I look at it as a relationship that I have with him that I want to give him the honor and glory anytime I have the opportunity. And then right after I give him the honor and glory, I always try to give my teammates the honor and glory.

It's busy ball season and Tuesday night, while Erin was in Atkins playing volleyball...and after Lauren's soccer practice in Russellville...after the Ryan's football scrimmage/jamboree in Dardanelle, we stopped for a bite to eat on the way home.

Sheridan gets pretty much the same thing each time we stop at America's Favorite Drive in, but she was feeling a little crazy to be at Sonic, ordering dinner after 8:30 and her bedtime. That's when she said..."I'll take a vanilla coke and some of those little chicken balls."

Seems silly to repeat it now...but it cracked us all up. She meant popcorn chicken, but just couldn't find the words. We must've all been a little crazy, because we laughed about it until our order was delivered.

I saw this on a church sign recently.

Last Sunday morning during the Bible Study hour I sat with a friend in the hospital who is losing her fight with cancer. She's been given about 2 weeks. We were quiet. Talked just a little. I sang her favorite hymn to her. It was sobering. It was precious.

When I went to church I ran into a new friend who has a 4 week old baby. I had talked to her a little last week at our sale and they are having a hard time with their baby, a lot of crying and not a lot of sleep for anyone.

We sit in front of them in service so I asked if the baby fussed if I could take her out instead of one of them missing the sermon. She lasted about 15 minutes and then I was surprised, but they let me have her! I held this little precious baby out in the hallway for almost 30 minutes. She has this huge shock of hair on her head that stands straight up, she has blue eyes and loves to look at you while sucking the life out of her paci. It was precious.

Faith is knowing that God has everything in control, no matter what.

I read a lot. I limit my choices to Christian fiction, non-fiction and how-to books. Every once in a while I find a quote that hits me and I've decided to record these here. I believe God uses many different ways to get my attention.

For instance, I've been a little lax in my Bible study over the holidays. It doesn't matter that I have 4 great Bible study books lined up to read and another one started...I just haven't opened THE BOOK with much regularity the last 14 days.

In a Kristen Billerbeck novel I finished last night, the main character is at a singles Bible study and she is talking here in first person...

"The group recaps their previous conversations and then I read a key passage aloud, getting into the lesson in spite of myself. Isn't that how Bible study works? It's a pain in the keister to get there, get your brain focused, but when you do, your heart follows. That's gotta be God."

I have never used the word "keister" but the point is true for me. When I do my part, God is always there to do His.
