Christmas Concerts

The CHS Christmas Band concert and Shout! Choir musical both fell on the same day this year. Fortunately the timing worked out and we had a great Sunday of Christmas music AND a Happy Birthday Jesus party! I love living in a small town where the high school is right across the street from the church and families can follow all their kids and celebrate the season together.

Shout! Choir

What a blessing...our children's choir musical. THE LIGHT HAS COME. On Friday, the worst school massacre in the United States took place in Connecticut. The words of a song, coming out of children's mouths that Jesus Christ is the only hope...it was more than emotional than ever. Becky and I always call the musical the little Christmas Miracle. Many times the rehearsals before the musical make us wonder if they will even remember the words or fall down the steps. Last Wednesday was no exception and I came home from rehearsal exhausted from trying to simply get all the kids to pay attention and quit bouncing off the walls . The miracle:  Sunday night was precious and glorifying. I KNOW that God has a special place in His heart for children who are focused on Him. It's a privilege to teach and serve these children.

Basketball Season

It's not pretty, but we've made it about halfway through our first season of girls club basketball. Thankfully the gym is close to the house, the practices are only once a week, and the games are early enough we can get home and have time to get things done before bed. And, they're the Razorbacks, so red is easy to wear and cheer for!

Soccer girls!

We love fall and Tri-County soccer! It's such a great sport and so fun to have silly girls chasing the ball from one end of the field to another! Sweet, sweet girls on our team this year...having a blast watching them and team-coaching with our friends the Mehargs!

Spirit Week

Homecoming 2012: Beauty and the Geek day.

Favorite team day: Sheridan was so excited to dress like Lydia. I told her she needed to stand up when she was by her buddy. She knows that Lydia is taller, but she didn't know just how much until her teacher sent me this picture.

GRAND ADVENTURE!

Sheridan got to have an overnight adventure with Mimi and Gramps the last weekend of the summer! I told her she could send me pictures on Mimi's phone, and they took a picture of ALL their fun! They ate breakfast on the deck, went swimming at the comunity center, visited the library, ate lunch at Taco Bell, and ate ice cream looking out at the river. Everyday is an adventure with Mimi and Gramps...Sheridan was SO THANKFUL for her own time with them!

Olympics on the Lane

It's been VERY HOT this summer and it's been fun to have something new to keep us occupied inside. The 2012 London Olympics have been a great lesson in geography, sports trivia, the English monarchy, and learning about some great young athletes. As an added bonus, we added our own version of the balance beam to the living room floor for Sheridan to perform on. Good times!

BFFs

Richard has been out of town since Sunday morning. Ryan left on a road trip on Monday. Lauren has had summer band all day Monday and Tuesday. Erin has had friends over and swim practice at night... Sheridan and I have been together a lot! She's been working with me on sale items in the living room for hours at a time. She wanted a NICE Pottery Barn backpack and decided Rhea Lana's was the way to "earn" it. I'm thankful. We've also swam, watched movies, cleaned out closets, cooked together, grocery shopped and read books together.
I haven't had a lot of adult conversation...and had to vent a little with Richard today on the phone about all the crazy things bubbling around in my head this afternoon. When he arrived home I took a little nap and when I got up Sheridan showed me what she had been doing without me for the hour. I love this girl.

Onward and Upward

Our team isn't winning.  It's obvious we're out skilled and the shortest team on the court no matter who we're playing. We have two kids who haven't ever played any basketball, at all. And the kids are having a blast! Upward Basketball is a HIT! Week 3...

UPWARD

Sheridan scored her career high 8 POINTS on Sunday! This was her second basketball game ever! I'm especially happy that ALL the kids feel valuable with UPWARD basketball. A few kids will score most of the points, but everyone is busy and playing and getting instruction. It's a good thing.

Sheridan is NINE!

It's officially summer and that means Sheridan's BIRTHDAY! Richard got the pool opened just in time and then had to go out of town for the week for training. Lauren is at Girls State and so Ryan, Erin and I hosted 5 of Sheridan's friends for a CUPCAKE and SWIMMING party. You know it's a great day when Sheridan says, "It's been the most wonderful birthday ever!"

Approved Workmen

So proud of Sheridan for finishing her first year in Truth and Training club. AWANA is so great and I loved being a director and helping the sweet girls learn their verses.

Spring Sports

It's been a really fun semester watching Ryan play baseball, Lauren and Erin play soccer together and Sheridan play soccer on the weekends. These last months have flown by with games and tournaments all running together. Neither the baseball team or the soccer team made it past the first round in the state tournament and Sheridan's team didn't win a game all season, but it didn't devastate us at all because everyone enjoyed their teams and their accomplishments. I like it that way, and I'm sure glad we're done driving to Mena!
