Deeds done in the darkness...

I mean no disrespect to the Word, and I am aware that I used a portion of this verse out of context: "The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. " Romans 13:12

I used this phrase on Tuesday at 5: 10 AM (dark and cold) on the way to the Fitness Center.

The Monday after the cruise Richard joined the local Fitness Center with the comment, "If we put money down, maybe we'll stay at it." SO FAR, we have been faithful 6 days a week, but sometimes he has to remind me of our agreement to get up early before the kids are up and our day begins. Almost every morning I try some argument that might get him to u-turn us back home for another hour of sleep. I don't think I'll ever sway him, but it's honestly all I am thinking about at that time in the morning. Tuesday morning, I told him I thought we should stay away from "deeds done in the darkness" and surely exercise was one of those deeds, but it was blasted by Richard's laughter.

(Aside) I don't get the concept of "making yourself sweat." I don't mind playing hard or working hard in the yard and sweating, but knowingly "making myself sweat" just doesn't work in my psyche. I'm sure this has something to do with my less than stellar results thus far, but I'm sticking with my level of intensity until ...I don't know what.

My children are totally fit and I pray they stay healthy and engaged in physical activities. Lauren played a majority of her Basketball game last night. I was so proud of her 7 points, a couple of steals and an assist or two. She has worked VERY hard this year, even going to the gym at 7am to shoot and practice before school some days during the season. She has truly given it her best effort and last night was a good night for her. My friend took these action shots at a game earlier in the year.

You might be able to tell that the 7th grade girls bench is behind her in this pic. There are 34 girls on the team!
Ryan is in off-season football right now. They run 2 or 3 days a week and I always think he's exaggerating when he tells me how far they are going. HOWEVER, I almost passed out in the laundry room from the smell and wetness of the workout clothes that came out of his duffel bag on Monday. Yikes!

I've heard: "A family that sweats together, sticks together."

Here's to sweating!

I think that Ryan probably ISN'T exaggerating! Stephen and Doyle have a foggy perception of the boys running since they're up to 18 miles now!!! They think everyone should be able to do that-no problem. Ha!

I laughed so hard when I read this. You are so funny!

I loved those photos of Lauren! You have such an athletic bunch...they certainly didn't inherit it from their Aunt Ashley. Here's hoping my kids have Scott's athletic genes!

We're getting snow up here today! Hopefully, by tomorrow there will be enough to play in!
