Helping Out

On Thursday I took Lauren over the hills and through the woods to Grandma's store to work. You know, there's few hands-on things I can do to help my Mom since we live about 3 hours away. I enjoy praying for her and listening to her on the phone...and blogging so she and Dad can get our family news!

Anyway, the Lord has blessed my mom with a great business mind and a great business. Every year on Memorial Day weekend her shopping center hosts a huge sidewalk sale and it is a big deal! This year Lauren got to go and work with me! The highlights are as follows:

1. Three generations working together! Lauren was very flexible, it's not so much fun to stand in the heat on the concrete and greet little ladies, hang up clothes, sweep the sidewalk and work! She was not only willing to do these things but never complained! I was proud!

2. Seeing Mekelle and her two children. It's been 5 years since I've seen my childhood best friend. I named Sheridan after her and have a very deep and precious place in my heart for this friend. She's really the only best friend I've ever had and I'm thankful for a great visit and meeting her two beautiful children. (One of the biggest honors of my life was being the maid of honor in her wedding!)

3. Getting a new watch! There are perks and this is one of them! My mom's store is a clothing and accessory store for ladies! We are so blessed...and I needed a new watch!

4. Richard got to bond with Ryan, Erin and Sheridan. They got to travel to Conway and celebrate Bekah's (cousin) graduation! Lauren and I were sorry we couldn't go, but what a wonderful day for the rest of our family. Richard and I are almost always in the same place so "dad time" with the kiddos is special.

5. Helping my mom gives a very satisfied feeling to me. It's not that I'm a martyr, but really, I know how much it means to her to have help that can help! I've been busy for several of the last few years (Sheridan's birth, ball tournaments, etc) and it was good to be free to go.

I need to be a more thankful person...this list helps.
