Sheridan's 5th!

Sheridan was insistent on Wed night that we wake her up before the kids went to school. I knew this was going to be a problem...she loves to lay in bed. We opted for a serenade of the traditional "Happy Birthday" chorus. We then left and she stayed in bed for another 45 minutes!

Anytime one of our kids asks to go to eat somewhere we don't want to, we tell them they can go on their birthday! Well, Sheridan has been holding out for Taco Bell.
She and Richard had birthday lunch together. I was at home putting together the big birthday bash we had planned for 5pm.

Mimi stopped in on her way to NWA and shared a card and some shopping money with Sheridan. I'm so glad she was coming through (with special friends) because Sheridan loves anything Mimi does with her!

OK, the dress up party was a huge hit! Here Indi, Claire and Sheridan show off dresses, jewelry, hats and scarves. My friends were great to loan me almost all of these items plus two huge mirrors! WOW! These girls chose fun clothes as soon as they got here, some others weren't so sure.

I had a grand idea for Richard and Ryan to dress up and escort the girls from the car into the house. The guys looked great...but it startled a few of the 5 year old girls...even the ones we know well!

Here, Sheridan helps Hope accessorize! I bought bling from Oriental Trading. The girls could take rings and bracelets home. I used old costume jewelry for necklaces. And I found dress-up clip on earrings from Hobby Lobby. The earrings fell apart everytime one of the girls touched them, but they were very shiny and gaudy and that is what I was going for!

Ryan played Pass the Purse with the girls when I got up to take pictures. If you got caught with the purse you had to pick an accessory and put it on. I'm not sure, but I think he has one of our earrings on!

I made a 4 layer cake that was very pretty with shiny colored sugar on top and drizzled pink icing. I tied bows on the candles with left over ribbon and it added a lot of flair. I surrounded the cake with those little mints you get at wedding showers.

I found a cookie cutter in the shape of a shoe and I cut the cheese out for crackers. It may seem like I went overboard...but it only took me 15 minutes to fix all of the snacks!

My big kids really stepped up to the plate to help with the party. I might have had too many 5 year olds for the size of my living room. Ryan, Lauren and Erin helped with the glue for the jewelry box craft, and helped fold the construction paper fans. I was so thankful for their help, and they looked so good!

OK, the party took a lot of work and I couldn't have pulled it off without the family's help. BUT, that's what family is ALL ABOUT!

Richard just couldn't get away from the little girls wanting him to dress up!

Happy Birthday Sheridan!! You were awesome at your party and I'm so glad you had such a fun time with your friends!

Laura, You were there the day Sheridan was born! I remember you waiting outside with my family for so long because of the complications we had at the beginning of her birth! You are a precious friend and I'll never forget your love for us that day!

I wish I could find the photo of Richard when he was about 3 dressed up in his pj's and some old jewelry, I think he was at Mom Rogers' for a visit. To see this pic of him at the party brought a laugh to be sure.
You are such fun and so talented! What a terrific idea for her party. I loved seeing all the family make Sheridan's day special.
