Family

Richard has always wanted a big family. I wanted a big family only if they got along. God has blessed us with four wonderful children and a great marriage. To pull it all together He gave us some parenting mentors who helped us find His guidelines and best for raising our family. Life is not perfect at our house. All 6 of us are works in progress. But, life is good in our house.

I know that it is not so good for most families. As naive as I am about the world's biggest problems, I know that children are being underfed physically, emotionally and spiritually. I get choked up thinking about these children whose parents are unequipped or just choosing not to nurture their children. Many of these children still live in their homes. Many of these children have been taken from these families. And in many, many cases these children are in temporary homes, in orphanages, and have nowhere to call home. Life is not always good.

God opened our heart to the possibility of adoption a long time ago. And then God continued to bless us with our own children and life has been busy. The calling hasn't been far away and our teenagers have even begun asking about the possibility. Our friends have adopted the sweetest boy and we'd take him for our own (if we needed to) without any questions asked. That's just how we all feel.

Every reason we have for not adopting is selfish for us. We couldn't stop the process now if we tried. When we seek God's will, and listen, we really can't NOT do what He says. We've done this before and it never turns out well when we go our own way. We know He knows best.

So, even though we don't have enough room in our house for another child,...
and we think we have just enough money to keep our kids full and in clothes and sports, ...
and our calendar is full...
our hearts are open.

We will continue signing paperwork, mailing and re-mailing them to the Department of Human Service Offices. We will complete the last half of our adoption training, and we'll keep praying for God's will.

If there are children out there who need us, then we're ready and willing.

We will be praying for you guys. You are wonderful parents and great friends.
By the way, your advice totally worked the other day. Our sweet boy is doing much better (and so are we).

I love you guys - thank you for being an inspiration and an example to me of being obedient to God despite circumstances, 'excuses' and fear (well, maybe that's just what I'm experiencing... HA!). Will be praying for you! :]
