Fun in the Sun

Sheridan and I are having a great week. She has chosen the menu for the last two days and we've been busy sorting books, running errands, watching the food network and swimming.

Yesterday we went to church and made phone calls for VBS follow up and also went to Sam's store to work on the windows. I was a week or so behind so it was fun to get back in the swing of things with two really cute 4th of July windows. It's hard to go wrong with baby blue and smocked dresses!

Flat Stanley was there! Can you find him?

Today Sheridan's friend Anna Grace is here and they are having a big time dressing up, chalk drawing on the driveway and now swimming. We were told that Flat Stanley loves to swim...it appears he does! I don' t know how he'll do in the back flip contest they're having right now.

I learned from my mother

I had fun working at my friends children's store on Thursday and Friday while she was at market. She gave me free reign to move around whatever I wanted and I had so much fun!

I learned all this working for my mom at her stores so many years ago. At one time I thought I might want to do displays for a living. It was something like little boys who want to be firemen, it was a shortlived. It's fun to be able to do it once in awhile for my friend. Her store is so cute and touching all the sweet things was a treat!

Fun for Me

I've had some fun the past two weeks helping a friend who has opened a children's boutique in town. She has great taste and a good location...and she doesn't like doing windows!

I DO! It is a great relationship for me where she lets me come and go and do her displays! I love it! I get to flex my creativity muscle and she gets a job done she doesn't really like! This weekend I decorated for the town's Christmas Open House for her. Erin and Lauren came and helped me get all the details sorted out...like tying fishing line to 32 silver balls...and handing them to me as I hung them! I was thankful for their help and it saved me a lot of time.

Sam told me her open house was a big hit and I was thankful I got to have a little part in it. I told her today it was a great thing for me too, to be able to help her and do something I think is fun!

I can't remember the first time I decorated a window display. I'm pretty sure it was at our children's store because as I was undressing the mannequins I always feared a kid I knew would see me with a naked boy or girl! I couldn't wait on people or write tickets so I think my mom let me do it to keep me busy. I'm also sure she "tweaked" everything as soon as I was gone!
