Mid Winter Break - Day 2 and 3!

Well, Saturday morning found everyone in bed well past their normal wake-up time. Richard and I didn't go to the Fitness Center until 8:00 and the kids were still snoozing when we got home! It was all we could do not to wake them up to tell them how late they slept! Our kids have never been much for sleeping in. We go to bed on time and play hard during the day. Nobody wants to miss anything and really, my kids don't sleep late! When they finally got up...9:15ish, Erin made cinnamon rolls for breakfast. What a treat!

After homemade pizza for lunch, we borrowed a game from the Douglas' and played "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" The girls blew through the first 7 questions in the first game, and you'd think we'd have an advantage since we actually had a 5th grader on our team, but it wasn't to be. Rich and Ryan dominated the second game and won that game and a lot of make believe money.

Our late afternoon project was making pretzels from a recipe I had found on another blog. They were fun to make, and OK to eat. OK maybe because they were whole wheat, maybe because we didn't have official pretzel salt, maybe because they were not crispy, I don't know. When we have left overs...that indicates they weren't great. But, a noble try!

We watched another home video after dinner, this one titled "1998." Ryan and Lauren were 4 and 3, and they were a hoot! They were in Cubbies and being home schooled, I recorded them saying the days of the week, their Cubbies' verses, and other preschool wonders. Erin was just 1 and toddling around saying "cheese" to the camera. They were so funny and we all laughed! Sheridan and Lauren favor each other so much, but in the video Ryan had facial expressions that Sheridan makes now! Crazy!

We ended the evening watching "Miracle" the US Hockey Team movie, by Disney. It was made for TV so the language was clean and the story was good. The kiddos got to stay up late but had to agree to get up today with good attitudes!

Today is DAY 3 of Mid Winter Break and we celebrated Sunday in the Lord's house! Our Bible Study class was good and I filled in for someone in the nursery during the worship service. This afternoon, Lauren has gone to a friend's house, Ryan is next door at Trey's house, Erin has 2 friends in her room and Sheridan is taking a nap. Richard is watching the Daytona 500 and I'm considering a mid-winter nap myself!
This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118:24
