Family First

God has blessed us with some good friends we like to get together with. We're both very busy families but when one or the other calls with a plan we always say, "Yes!" Little did we know that we were in for a huge surprise when they invited us to dinner Monday night. They invited us to stop at their house on the way home from our soccer games for a crawfish boil!

Check out the menu! All I could think was, "This is something you do in Louisiana, Richard's family would be so proud!"

I have a thing about eating things that I can see the eyes on...so I wasn't as friendly with the entree as some of my family. I did eat my share of shrimp...de-headed for me by my loving husband!

Richard and Ryan dug in.

Erin dug in.

Sheridan had to be coaxed by Casey to try some crawfish. As you can tell by the first picture, she wasn't so sure...but what 5 year old won't follow a cool high school kid?

And Lauren, bless her heart, is just like me...and wasn't too interested in eating something with legs (that are still attached) but Richard walked her through it and she was a trooper!

Life is good. It's better with good friends and best when you know The One who gave you ALL the good things.

Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the Heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

I am laughing at myself! When I first posted this article I called it a "crab boil." I even titled it someting crab. I'm so dumb I didn't even call the main course the right name. They're CRAWFISH. I'll be humiliated if the Louisiana folks read it before I changed it!

I refused to eat these when I lived in Louisiana!

Do you remember "Flipper" at a 50th anniversary dinner? You didn't know it was going to have eyes, and your dad and Richard had absolutely no sympathy for you.

Robert and I will still occasionally sing that song and talk about you when we see trout.

I told that story two times on this particular night! Somethings you never forget.
